Who is who ..?

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Christian de Mey founded ACPS in 1997 and has been heading it since then. Born in Belgium in 1951, he studied medicine at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, becoming a physician Magna cum Laude in 1976 and an accredited internist in 1981. Subsequently he was trained as a Research Fellow in the Department of Prof. Dr. Collin Dollery (Clinical Pharmacology) at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK. Following his appointment as Medical Director at Squibb Benelux in 1982, he headed the SK&F Institute for Applied Clinical Pharmacology, Göttingen, Germany, between 1984 and 1990. In 1990 he was accredited as Clinical Pharmacologist in Germany. From 1990 to 1994 he was Scientific Director at the Centre for Cardiovascular Pharmacology (ZeKaPha), Wiesbaden, Germany. He later became the Managing and Scientific Director of the IPHAR Institute for Clinical Pharmacology, Munich, Germany, until his current appointment in 1997. Dr de Mey is the author of over 200 scientific publications, many of which relate to cardiovascular and urological clinical pharmacology. He is a member of several national and international scientific Societies in Belgium, Germany, the USA and the UK.

Dr.Ludmilla Turchanowa joined ACPS as a Senior Scientist in September 2005. Born in Dimitrovgrad, she studied Biotechnology at the University of St. Petersburg where she graduated in Biotechnology in 1993.  In 1996, Dr. Turchanowa relocated to Germany where she completed her doctoral research (1998) at the Dept. Gastroenterology (Prof. Caspary) at the J. W. Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main. From 2001 to 2005 she was affiliated at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology (Prof. Pfeilschiffter) of Frankfurt University. During this time (2001-2003) she was a regular visiting associate at the SANGER-Institute (Wellcome Trust) in Cambridge, where she trained in molecular biology. At ACPS, Dr. Turchanowa is a leading expert in medical and pharmaceutical "intelligence" and strategic analysis of project development opportunities; she furthermore coordinates the broad spectrum of our data management tasks.

Mrs. Jana Shopova who joined ACPS June 2006 now assumes since December 2007 the full responsibility of the Management of the Sofia-Site including the management of our studies in Bulgaria and the development of new services specifically designed for sponsors of the Balkan region. In this task, Mrs. Shopova is assissted by Mrs. Radostina Toteva, who joined ACPS April 2006, as  Site Administrator.
